The way that Ruth Asawa uses a bold simple style of presentation interests me.

In this exhibition, which I visited, she places sculptural items sparsely on the wall – which gives each a powerful presence. Although the forms are quite complex their presentation is minimalist – just a single form, black against white on a blank wall.

This confidence in a boldly simple manner of presentation influenced my own approach to the wall installations of my Primum non nocere series.
